Chiropractic/ART

At Rise Bodyworks in Alameda, our chiropractors/ART practitioners work with a variety of techniques including cutting edge chiropractic, active release techniques, physiotherapy and exercise rehabilitation. This variety and combination of techniques help to resolve imbalances in the body from previous injuries, poor postural habits, and repetitive stress. Imbalances in the body can cause dysfunctional biomechanics, accelerating the process of joint degeneration, and leading to loss of function. Ultimately, physical sensations of pain go to work on the mind and emotions, creating a negative internal environment.

At the Rise Clinic, we recognize that individuals are unique and therefore require individual solutions. We adapt our protocols to fit the patient. You may or may not have pain, but if you’re like us, you want that extra bit of range of motion so that you can go farther, faster, longer and stronger. From the weekend warrior to the professional athlete, we all have asymmetries and imbalances that are often simple to correct.

Low back, thoracic, or neck pain can be devastating. Maybe you don’t have pain yet, but you’ve noticed your posture has really taken a turn for the worse. We work to restore the natural spinal curves that you were born with, allowing your central nervous system to function properly while improving your posture. To accomplish this task we utilize cutting-edge chiropractic techniques, traction, soft-tissue care, and exercise.

What is active release therapy (ART)?

Active release therapy (or ART) is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.

Every ART session is actually a combination of examination and treatment. The ART provider uses his or her hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specific movements by the patient.
